SDS TRC & RGICD is a 656 bedded Autonomous Institution under the Govt. of Karnataka. The Maharaja of Mysore- Sri Jayachanrajendra Wadiyar accorded sanction for the establishment of Tuberculosis Sanatorium during 1944 and allotted the vast land at Byrasandra and Siddapur villages of Uttarhalli Hobli of Bangalore South Taluk.
At that time, Late Sri Devarao Shivaram, a Businessman of Bangalore City came forward to pay Rs.1,00,000.00 as donation for the construction of Hospital in the name of his beloved wife Smt.Shanthabai and hence the name Shanthabai Devarao Shivarama Tuberculosis Sanitorium (SDS)
This Tertiary Care Respiratory Referral institute in Karnataka is spread over 44 acres of land, and is situated in the heart of the city of Bengaluru catering to the highest number of respiratory cases and referrals from across Karnataka and neighboring states.
